FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

 

WOODSTOCK FIRE/RESCUE DISTRICT

 

The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District, an equal opportunity employer is accepting applications for the purpose of establishing an eligibility list for the position of CAREER FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC.

Applicants must be high-school graduates or the recipient of a GED equivalence diploma; possess a valid State of Illinois driver’s license; a State of Illinois certified Firefighter II or III; a State of Illinois licensed Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic (EMT-P) or a State of Illinois “license-pending” EMT–P.  Interested parties must provide verification of successful completion of the Candidate Physical Ability Test of June 1st or sooner. Verification needs to be done prior to being certified to the final eligibility list.

A State of Illinois “license-pending” EMT–P is an Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (EMT-B) that has completed the classroom portion of a qualified Paramedic program in the State of Illinois and is awaiting the date in which they will write the State test. License-pending paramedics must be licensed in the State of Illinois as an EMT-P no later than twelve (12) months after the date of hire.

BE ADVISED THAT A PERSON CERTIFIED AS A FIREFIGHTER II OR III/EMT-B WHO IS CURRENTLY ENROLLED OR PLANNING TO ENROLL IN A FALL 2008 QUALIFIED PARAMEDIC PROGRAM WILL BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS APPLICATION/TESTING PROCESS. CLASS SHOULD BE COMPLETED BY JUNE, 2009. IT SHOULD BE UNDERSTOOD, HOWEVER, THAT THE ABOVE REQUIREMENTS IN TERMS OF BEING A LICENSED OR “LICENSE PENDING” EMT-P AT TIME OF HIRE WILL STILL APPLY.

Application packets will only be available from September 29th through October 10th during the hours of 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM at 435 E. Judd St., Woodstock, IL
