The exposure to infectious diseases is a risk that comes with delivering patient care. The crew from Chicago Water & Fire Restoration thoroughly disinfected all of our stations, apparatus, and equipment at no charge. Their top notch cleaning helped ensure the members of WFRD that they have a safer work environment. Thank you for your generosity.

Over the last few weeks WFRD has been out teaching children about fire safety and we couldn’t have done it without our great partners at NERCOM. A special thank you to our dispatchers for educating students about when to call 911 and creating a meeting place. You guys rock!

Congratulations to FF/PM Rachel Simandl on recently completing paramedic class and passing her state examination. Rachel’s badge pinning ceremony was conducted at the Board of Trustee meeting on Thursday evening. Way to go Rachel!
9/11 Moment of Silence

We held a moment of silence today at 7:46 a.m. for those who lost their lives on 9/11. The time coincides with the exact moment Flight 11 struck the north tower. Never Forget.
After Hours Nerf Battle

Tonight members of WFRD participated in the After Hours Nerf Battle at the Woodstock Public Library. This fun event was geared for kids ages 6-12. We had a blast being paired up with the kids and trying and capture each other’s team flag. It was a great event that we will look forward to again next year.

Our crews may look a little different when delivering care, but want to do everything we can to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. These extra steps are in place to ensure personnel are protected so they can respond to the next emergency and finish their shift in a healthy state.
Active shooter training at McHenry County College

Our crews participated in an active shooter training with the Woodstock Police Department and the McHenry County Sheriffs Office. Our crews practiced being a part of a Rescue Task Force (RTF) to triage and extricate victims under guard of an armed officer.

Touch-A-Truck at the First Presbyterian Church

We enjoyed spending time with the kids at today's Touch-A-Truck event located at the First Presbyterian Church. This is an annual event that we always look forward to being a part of. The rest of the crews stayed busy sharpening their vehicle extrication skills in between answering calls.

Crews from Engine 442 and Battalion 4 responded to Menards on the 4th of July to rescue nearly a dozen ducklings that had fallen through a sewer grate.
Live Burn On South Street

The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District conducted live fire training from 7:00am-12:00pm in the 800 block of W. South Street. Thank you to all those who came out to participate or watch!
WFRD Holds Open House!

Attendance at our Open House event was phenomenal!!! The weather was perfect and the energy level was running high. Thank you to all who were able to come out and spend the morning with us. We hope you had fun and also learned a thing or two about who we are and what we do.
A special thanks goes out to all WFRD members and the Marian Central Catholic High School Key Club for helping make this event run smoothly.

Cub Scout Troop 350 Visits Station #1

Cub Scout Troop 350 visited us at Fire Station 1. We showed them all of the tools we have available for vehicle extrication. By the look on their faces, I'd say they had fun.

Challenger Little League outing

It was a beautiful day for baseball with the Challenger Little League, Woodstock, IL. at Merryman Fields Park. WFRD's very own "Fire Pup" was asked to throw out the first pitch. After the game, players, coaches, family and friends walked over to Station 3 for hotdogs, chips, and a drink. This has become an annual event that we love being a part of.
