Many residents in the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District have already taken advantage of our reflective address sign program. If you’ve noticed green, red, or blue address markers installed around the city and rural areas, those are part of this initiative. They make a tremendous difference when minutes truly matter.
The color of your sign isn’t random—it communicates critical information to firefighters before we even reach your home.
Our engines carry 1,000 feet of supply hose. Measuring your driveway helps us determine how much hose will be required for a fire attack on your property.
Green Signs: Driveway is under 1,000 feet. Crews can lay hose from the road.
Red Signs: Driveway is 1,000–2,000 feet. A red sign is placed at the 1,000-foot mark to guide crews.
Blue Signs: Driveway is over 2,000 feet or has special circumstances. This alerts firefighters that a different strategy is required.
This simple visual system saves time and helps us mount an effective response from the moment we arrive.

The cost covers materials only—the sign, reflective numbers, and the mounting stake. Installation is provided at no additional cost as a service to our community.
Note: Installation from December through March depends on weather and soil conditions.
